American Fork DUI Lawyer | Utah County Justice Court and Nearby Courts

An American Fork DUI is filed in the court named on the citation. Utah Courts does not list an American Fork Justice Court. The city's current FAQ sends a traffic or parking ticket in American Fork or Cedar Hills to Utah County Justice Court, at 151 South University Avenue, Suite 3300, in Provo. Lindon, Alpine, and Lehi each have their own justice courts. Eagle Mountain cases are covered on the Saratoga Springs page. No city justice court on the directory

American Fork does not have a justice court of its own in the Utah Courts directory.

Utah Courts' location directory has no American Fork Justice Court. The new-case filing list for Utah County names Highland, Lehi, Lindon, Orem, Payson, Pleasant Grove, Provo, Santaquin, Saratoga Springs, Springville, and Utah County justice courts. American Fork is not on that list. Cedar Hills is not on it either. If the notice names a court and prints an address, use the notice.

The Fourth District courtroom at 75 East 80 North, Suite 202, in American Fork is closed. Utah Courts says that location closed on December 31, 2024, and that those district court operations moved to Provo District Court at 137 North Freedom Boulevard, Suite 100. An older police FAQ on the American Fork site still tells people to call that Fourth District number for an American Fork traffic citation. Do not drive to 75 East 80 North unless the notice in your hand still prints that address.

The city's current FAQ says a traffic or parking ticket in American Fork or Cedar Hills goes to Utah County Justice Court. Utah Courts lists that court at 151 South University Avenue, Suite 3300, Provo, UT 84601. A DUI is a criminal case, and the court named on the charging document is the one that has it. Most first-offense DUIs in Utah are Class B misdemeanors handled in justice court. A charge that is stepped up because of a prior DUI, an injury, or a child in the car can land in district court instead. Dallin will tell you which file you have after he sees the paperwork.

The address on the notice

151 South University Avenue means the county court

If that suite in Provo is the court address, you are in Utah County Justice Court. That is the court the city names for American Fork and Cedar Hills traffic citations. If the notice prints a different street, use the notice.

The hearing

County dates are often online. The notice still controls.

Most hearings at Utah County Justice Court are held virtually or hybrid. The county publishes Webex links for scheduled hearings. The court can still require you in person at the address on the notice. Dallin prefers online hearings.

Nearby cities

Cedar Hills uses the county court. Lindon, Alpine, and Lehi do not.

Cedar Hills does not have a justice court in the Utah Courts directory. American Fork's current FAQ sends Cedar Hills traffic and parking tickets to Utah County Justice Court, the same direction it gives for American Fork tickets. That is not an American Fork courtroom. The county court page on this site covers Cedar Hills, Vineyard, and unincorporated Utah County.

Lindon has Lindon Justice Court at 100 North State Street, Lindon. Alpine has Alpine Justice Court. Utah Courts lists it at 5400 West Civic Center Drive, Suite 4, in Highland, the same building it lists for Highland Justice Court, and a separate caption. Lehi has Lehi City Justice Court at 154 North Center Street. Lehi says that, unless the court instructs otherwise, you can appear in person at that courthouse or virtually via Webex. None of those three cities is served by an American Fork justice court.

Eagle Mountain does not have its own justice court. Those cases go to Utah County Justice Court, and that is explained on the Saratoga Springs page. Pleasant Grove has its own justice court. A stop on State Street can put two cities on the same drive and two courts on two different captions. The name on the citation is the check.

What arraignment is for

The first setting introduces the charge. It does not finish it.

Show up for the court named on the notice, in the format that notice describes.

  1. Match the notice to the court name

Utah County Justice Court should name 151 South University Avenue, Suite 3300, in Provo. A Lindon, Alpine, Highland, or Lehi caption belongs to that city's court. Appearing in Provo does not put you on Lehi's calendar. If the notice prints a different address, use the notice.

  2. You are told the charge and your rights

The court advises you of the accusation and of the right to counsel. A common path is to plead not guilty, or to ask for time to hire a lawyer, and to come back when the defense is actually underway.

  3. Ask how that date is being held

Most hearings at Utah County Justice Court are held virtually or hybrid. Dallin prefers online hearings, and many clients join from work instead of taking the morning off. If the court wants you in the room, the notice will say so, and it will give the address.

Online is still court

A video hearing is not a phone call you take from the car.

Most hearings at Utah County Justice Court are held virtually or hybrid. Treat the link like a courtroom: be somewhere quiet, be on time, and have the citation with you. Dallin prefers online hearings and goes over the login before the date so you are not guessing while a judge is waiting. If the notice puts the case in the building, use the address on the notice. The closed courtroom at 75 East 80 North is not a substitute for that address.

Dallin is a solo attorney based in Saratoga Springs, where he lives and works. The consultation is free. Call or text (435) 294-6806. Client meetings are usually by phone or video, and in person only by request. Utah's driver-license process runs separately, on a short timeline of its own. He will tell you what in the paperwork relates to that, as well as the court date.
