Payson Justice Court
Payson city cases
Santaquin is separate
Most hearings virtual
Payson's court stops at Payson. Santaquin has the next one.
Payson Justice Court is the municipal court for Payson. If the citation names that court, this is the docket. The city posts that court proceedings are held on Wednesdays by appointment, and that you call the clerk if you need to see the judge. It also posts that hearings are currently held remotely, and that you register for the Webex webinar on the link in your hearing notice. If a date is in person, use the address on that notice rather than a general city address.
Santaquin Justice Court is a different court, at 275 West Main Street, on the second floor in Santaquin. Santaquin says that court serves Santaquin and, by interlocal agreement, Genola and Goshen. A stop in Santaquin, or a caption that says Santaquin Justice Court, is not a Payson case. The two cities share a stretch of I-15 and a lot of the same commutes. They do not share this calendar.
Springville, to the north, has its own justice court on Main Street, and Mapleton's justice-court matters are heard there. A Springville caption is not Payson either. People are cited on Payson's streets, near the I-15 interchange, and on the roads toward Nebo, then have to sort which south-county court actually has the file. The court name does that. The direction you were driving does not.
Most first-offense DUIs in Utah are Class B misdemeanors handled in justice court. Payson Justice Court hears that level of case for the city. A DUI filed as a more serious offense, including where there is a prior DUI, an injury, or a child in the vehicle, can be filed in district court instead. Dallin reads the charging document before he tells you which courthouse has the case.
275 West Main, second floor
That is Santaquin Justice Court, not Payson. Genola and Goshen are tied to the Santaquin court by the city's own description. If that is the caption, prepare for that building, or for the link that court sends.
The court date and the result are different things
Nothing here promises a dismissal, a reduction, or a sentence. What happens depends on the stop, the testing, and the charge that was filed.
The first date introduces the charge. It does not decide it.
Wednesday on the court's general calendar is not a substitute for your notice.

Confirm it says Payson Justice Court
A Santaquin, Genola, Goshen, or Springville caption is a different court. Bring the paper that names Payson if this is the page that matches your case.
-
Rights, then a plea or time to hire a lawyer
The judge advises you of your rights, including the right to counsel, and asks how you intend to plead. Many people plead not guilty, or ask for time to hire counsel, so the case is not resolved in the first few minutes.

Register for the link the notice actually gives you
The court says hearing links are Webex webinar links, and that you use the registration link on your notice. Most hearings at this court are virtual or hybrid. If the notice puts you in the courtroom instead, that is the appearance you make.

Call (435) 294-6806Payson has been holding hearings on Webex. Yours still has a notice.
Most hearings at this court are held virtually or hybrid. The court currently tells people that hearings are remote, that you need a working camera and microphone, and that you register from the link on the notice. It also says proceedings are on Wednesdays by appointment. Those are the court's posted practices. They are not a promise that every future setting stays on a Wednesday webinar. Read your paper.
The consultation is by phone or video from a practice based in Saratoga Springs. You do not drive to Utah County to find out whether the caption is Payson or Santaquin. Utah's license process runs on a separate short timeline from the criminal case. Dallin will tell you what in the paperwork relates to that clock.

No. Santaquin has its own justice court, at 275 West Main Street, on the second floor. A Santaquin caption is not a Payson case. Payson Justice Court is the municipal court for Payson.
Follow the notice. Payson posts that proceedings are held on Wednesdays by appointment, and that hearings are currently remote on Webex. Most hearings at this court are virtual or hybrid. If your paper names a different day or says to appear in person, that paper controls.
Santaquin Justice Court says it also provides court services for Genola and Goshen by interlocal agreement. Those towns are not on the Payson calendar. If the caption says Santaquin, that is the court, at 275 West Main Street.
Most first-offense DUIs in Utah are Class B misdemeanors handled in justice court, and that is the docket Payson Justice Court hears. Some are filed in district court. The charging document, not the city name, says which one you have.
