Park City DUI Lawyer | Summit County Justice Court DUI Defense
Park City does not run a separate municipal justice court for these DUI cases. Summit County Justice Court hears them, along with cases from Coalville, Kamas, Oakley, Francis, and Henefer. The court sits in the Park City area near Silver Creek, not on Main Street downtown. Dallin Littlefield defends DUI cases filed there.

Six towns. One justice court. Not a Park City city court.
Summit County Justice Court is the county court for Summit County municipalities that do not have their own justice court. That coverage includes Park City, plus Coalville (the county seat), Kamas, Oakley, Francis, and Henefer. A DUI charged in those places is filed in this court, not in a downtown Park City municipal courtroom.
The court is in the Park City area near Silver Creek, outside downtown. People arrested in Coalville, or in Kamas and Oakley, are sometimes surprised the justice court is not a separate courtroom in the county seat. The county court still covers those towns. Your notice has the appearance information. Do not assume a Coalville arrest means a Coalville courthouse.
Park City also draws people who do not live in Summit County. A visitor charged on a weekend may already be home, on the Wasatch Front or out of state, before the first court date. Leaving town does not continue the case. Most hearings at Summit County Justice Court are held virtually or hybrid, so many people attend online instead of driving back.
Most first-offense DUIs in Utah are Class B misdemeanors handled in justice court, and that is the case type this court hears. A more serious filing, such as one involving a prior DUI, an injury, or a child in the car, goes to district court. That is a different case. Dallin identifies which one you are in from the paperwork.
Same justice court, not a court in each town
Coalville, Kamas, Oakley, Francis, and Henefer are covered by Summit County Justice Court. A DUI charged in those towns is not filed in a separate municipal justice court.
The date still counts
Going home does not pause the case. Most hearings at this court are held virtually or hybrid, which is how many out-of-town clients appear without another trip to Summit County. Confirm the format on the notice.
The first date still happens, even if you have gone home.
Read the court name before you book a drive back to Park City.

Find Summit County Justice Court on the citation
If this is the right page, the caption names that court. A district-court caption is a different case. A stop in the Heber Valley or Midway is Wasatch County, not Summit County, and it belongs in a Heber courtroom.

The judge states the charge and your rights
Arraignment is where the court states the accusation and advises you of the right to a lawyer. You can plead not guilty, or ask for time to hire counsel, instead of trying to end the case at the first setting. That matters when you are joining from somewhere else and cannot tell what is being asked.

Plan around the format the court actually set
Most hearings at Summit County Justice Court are held virtually or hybrid. Many clients attend online so they do not miss work or drive back over Parleys. The court can still require you in person. Dallin checks that before you take the day off or book travel.

Most hearings at this court are held virtually or hybrid. For many people that means a video login rather than a day in the courthouse, whether they live in Coalville, work in Park City, or have already gone home. It does not mean every setting is remote. The notice for that date is what you follow.
Consults are by phone or video. Littlefield Legal is based in Saratoga Springs, so the first conversation does not require a trip to Summit County. Utah's license process moves on a separate short timeline from the criminal case. Bring whatever paper you were given and Dallin will tell you what he needs to see next.
