Pleasant Grove's court for Class B and Class C cases.
Under Utah Code 78A-7-106, a justice court has original jurisdiction over Class B and Class C misdemeanors, violations of ordinances, and infractions committed inside its territory by someone 18 or older. That is the docket people mean when they look up Pleasant Grove Justice Court. A Class A misdemeanor or a felony is filed in district court. The charging document names which one you have.
Pleasant Grove Justice Court is the city's court. Utah Courts lists Lehi, Lindon, Orem, and Pleasant Grove as separate justice courts. A stop near a city line follows the caption. If the paper says Pleasant Grove Justice Court, you prepare for that court.
A Pleasant Grove caption stays in Pleasant Grove
Lehi, Lindon, and Orem have justice courts of their own. The name printed on the citation is the check.
A prediction of the result
Nothing here promises a dismissal, a plea in abeyance, a reduction, or a particular sentence. The charge that was filed, and the evidence behind it, are what the case turns on.
Phone (801) 785-9461. Hours are posted on the court page.
Pleasant Grove's court page lists the phone as (801) 785-9461 and the email as justicecourt@pgcityutah.gov. The hours on that page are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon. The court says it does not currently have Spanish-speaking staff and asks people to email that address. The page also links a court schedule and virtual meeting links.
For an in-person date, use the address printed on your notice. If that notice and the court page disagree, call (801) 785-9461 and follow the notice. A DUI filed here has its own page, including the license timeline that runs beside the criminal case: Pleasant Grove DUI defense.
The first setting introduces the charge. It does not finish it.

Match the caption to Pleasant Grove Justice Court
Bring the citation or release paperwork. The court name should say Pleasant Grove Justice Court if this is your file. A Lehi, Lindon, Orem, or Utah County caption is a different calendar. Appearing for the wrong one does not put you on the right docket.

Rights, then a plea or time to hire counsel
Arraignment is where the court tells you the charge and your rights, including the right to a lawyer. A common path is to plead not guilty, or to ask for time to hire a lawyer, and to come back once the defense is underway.

The next date is often a pretrial
After arraignment, the case usually comes back for a pretrial. That setting is a chance to discuss the charge, the evidence, and what happens next. It is not a trial, and it is not a promise of a deal. The notice names the setting. Dallin goes over what that date is for before you appear.

Call or text (435) 294-6806The city posts virtual meeting links. The notice says which kind of date you have.
Pleasant Grove posts virtual meeting links for a defendant, for counsel and observers, and for small claims, in English and, for defendants, in Spanish. Use the link that matches your role, and use the notice to confirm the date is virtual. A virtual date is still court: be on time, somewhere quiet, with a camera and microphone that work and the citation in front of you.
The city's page does not say every hearing is virtual. If the notice tells you to appear in person, follow the address on that notice. Dallin checks the notice before you plan the morning.
The consultation itself is by phone or video. Littlefield Legal is based in Saratoga Springs and has no walk-in office. You do not travel there for the first conversation.
Class B and Class C cases Dallin defends in this court.
These are the kinds of adult misdemeanors and infractions a Utah justice court has jurisdiction to hear. The citation, not the city line you think you crossed, decides the file.
Most first offenses are Class B
Most first-offense DUIs in Utah are Class B misdemeanors handled in justice court. A prior DUI, an injury, or a child in the vehicle can change the classification, and those cases are filed in district court. Pleasant Grove DUI defense
Shoplifting under the retail-theft statute
Retail theft under $500, with none of the statute's enhancers, is a Class B misdemeanor. At $500 the charge moves up and can leave justice court. Shoplifting · Theft
Possession that stays a misdemeanor
Drug and marijuana possession charges that are filed as Class B or Class C misdemeanors can be on this calendar. Distribution and higher counts are a different court. Drug possession · Marijuana
Reckless driving and infractions
Reckless driving and other traffic misdemeanors, plus infractions, are part of what this court hears when the caption names it. Reckless driving
Plea in abeyance, diversion, a reduced charge, expungement.
Each of these is a possibility the law allows. None of them is a result Dallin can promise before he has the charging document and the facts.
A plea in abeyance under Utah Code 77-2a-2 starts with a motion by both the prosecutor and the defendant, after a guilty or no-contest plea and before judgment. The court decides whether to hold the plea and not enter judgment while conditions are pending. If the conditions are finished, the agreement can provide for a dismissal, a reduction, or, in a narrow problem-solving-court path, an expungement order. The prosecutor has to be part of the motion.
Diversion under Utah Code 77-2-5 is a written agreement with the prosecuting attorney, filed with the court, and it needs the court's approval. It is available after prosecution starts and before conviction. It is the prosecutor's agreement to offer, not a program the court hands out on its own.
A reduced charge depends on the value, the evidence, the prior record, and what the prosecutor will accept. Expungement is a later case under Title 77, Chapter 40a. The city links that Utah Courts expungement page from its own court site. Justice courts have jurisdiction over those petitions when the statute says they do. Eligibility depends on how this case ends and on the rest of the record. The file is not sealed the day court ends. The Utah Courts penalty chart lists the maximums for a Class B, a Class C, and an infraction. Maximums are not a forecast.
